While living in Philadelphia, I became very partial to crafted gin cocktails but their list of specialty ingredients and hard to find liquors made the task of creating them at home quite daunting. I came across a very easy gin, grapefruit and sage cocktail that was incredibly simple to make at home and inspired me to continue to create a wide range of cocktails that complimented this herbal and floral booze. This is one of my favorites and adequately named for my favorite word, "Pamplemousse" which is French for grapefruit. Cheers! Makes 2 Cocktails 2 ounces Premium Gin 1 ounce St. Germain Liquor 2 ounce Fresh Grapefruit Juice 3 dashes Aromatic Bitters 3 fresh rosemary sprigs Sparkling Water . Fill two high ball glasses with ice. Fill a shaker 1/3 with ice and add the gin, St. Germain, grapefruit juice, bitters and one spring of rosemary. Shake vigorously for 15 seconds and strain into the high ball glasses. Top each glass with sparkling water and garnish with a rosemary sprig . When I lived in Philadelphia, my husband and I would frequently wander around town stopping at local restaurants to nibble at bar snacks and have a cocktail or two. My favorite drink to order was the classic aviation but to my surprise, I always had difficult time finding a bartender who could whip this delicious drink together. I decided to prefect the recipe at home so that I could make this awesome cocktail whenever I wanted. I really love the floral notes this cocktail delivers...and the punch it gives isn't so bad either! Be careful, these will sneak up on you! Makes 2 Cocktails 4 ounces of Hendricks Gin 1 ounce Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur 1/2 ounce Creme De Violette 1 1/2 ounces Meyer Lemon Juice (sub regular lemon juice if you can't find Meyer lemons) 2 Luxardo Maraschino Cocktail Cherries Add the cherries to two coupe glasses. Fill a shaker 3/4 way with ice. Add the gin through lemon juice and shake for 10 seconds. Strain into the coupe glasses. Cheers! This has to be my all time favorite cocktail! If you think you don't like bourbon, I promise you, you will love this drink! Don't take my word for it though, give it a try and see what you think.....I bet you will instantly become a bourbon fan! If I am making this drink for a large group I will juice a bunch of lemons before hand which makes preparing this drink a lot faster. Makes 2 Drinks 3 ounces of Bourbon 1 1/2 ounces of fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 1 whole lemon) 1 ounce Maple Syrup 1 large rosemary spring crushed in you hand Add all of the ingredients to a cocktail shaker and then fill with ice. Shake vigorously for 30 seconds and strain into a rocks glass filled with ice. Garnish with a lemon peel and rosemary spring. Cheers! |
